Freshman Who Will Make an Immediate Impact
2019-20 College Hoops (Players Outside The Top 10)
Matthew Hurt (DUKE)
Per usual, Duke is not rebuilding but reloading coming into 2019, after building a historic 2018 recruiting class. Hurt, a 6 foot 9 215 pound forward brings a type of versatility that Coach K has not had in a while. He has a game very reminiscent of Blue Devil legend, Kyle Singler. Hurt has a pure stroke with great touch inside, and is a talented rebounder. He has work to do on the defensive side, but competes with a high level motor. Look for Hurt to lead the way for Duke on the offensive end.
N’Faly Dante (OREGON)
Dana Altman and Oregon have a strong history of shot blocking bigs, but Dante will come in as a five star prospect with a much higher talent level than the previous like Jordan Bell and Chris Boucher. The 6 foot 11 230 pound big fills a gaping hole for the Ducks and should be an immediate starter. He has a ideal intangibles and defensive instincts that can not be taught. Look for N’Faly Dante, the anchor down low, to be the X-factor this season for Oregon.
Sammuell Williamson (LOUISVILLE)
The McDonalds All American from Rockwall, Texas consistently raised his stock throughout his senior campaign with an NBA ready style of play. At 6 foot 6 180 pounds, Williamson is a natural scorer with great length for a wing, and is just one of those guys who you give the ball to get a bucket, similar to Jayson Tatum. There are high expectations for the Cardinals, pegged as a 2 seed in the most recent Bracketology. Expect Williamson to lead the Cards in scoring in route to becoming a one and done prospect.
DJ Carton (OHIO STATE)
The 6 foot 1 190 pound point guard from Bettendorf, Iowa is an ideal collegiate point guard. With lightning speed, great strength for his size, a tight handle and a great pullup from anywhere on the perimeter, Carton is going to light up the Big 10. Likely taking the point spot day one in Columbus, Carton is coming in with two other highly rated 4 star prospect in Alonzo Gaffney and EJ Liddell along with a strong core already for Coach Chris Holtmann, look out for Carton and the Buckeyes to surprise some people.

Beverly has played at a high level in high school for multiple years already. He is a high level scoring combo guard. The Canes have a hole on the wing, and look for Beverly to come in and be a guy that Jim Larranaga can rely on right away. He has an college ready body along with experience against the best high school players around the country.
Josiah James (TENNESSEE)
Josiah Jordan-James coming into Knoxville at the perfect timing as the Sweet 16 team had multiple players selected in the 2019 NBA draft. James at 6 foot 6 200 pounds, he has the ability to be a lead ball handler, and reminiscent of Lonzo Ball, he is one of those guys who elevates the level of play of all his teammates. James was a McDonald’s All American from Charleston, South Carolina and has hovered around the 15-25 range of all ranking outlets. Besides an NBA body, James does not have many weaknesses to his game. He has elite passing vision along with a pure, natural shooting stroke and great length to defend the 1-4 at the college level.
